Blankenheim
The medieval townscape is preserved almost completely in Blankenheim.
The spring of the river Ahr, old town gates, a late Gothic style church
and many half-timbered houses well worth putting under preservation
are waiting in romantic places and alleys. Many cafés and restaurant
invite to long stays.
The enormous building of Blankenheim Castle dominates the townscape.
Due to the zoo tunnel and the castle’s medieval water supply
Blankenheim hosts a technical monument of European importance.
The recreation areas around the castle’s pond offer rowing-boat
trips, mini-golf, a nostalgic playground, a tennis court for guests
and a heatable swimming pool including a 50 m pool, a 10 m tower,
children’s sledge and a paddling pool for children.
