Eifel Nationalpark

The federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia put 10700 hectare of the northern Eifel under protection of the first nationalpark of North Rhine-Westphalia in the beginning of the year 2003. The Eifel Nationalpark distinguishes due to its majestic beech woods, gnarled oak woods, mysterious gorges and wild streams.

The visitor can expect breath-taking views of the lakes Urft and Rur in this landscape of forest and water. More than 230 endangered plants and animals find refuge here essential to life.

Explore the nationalpark on your own or on guided tours. On the “primeval forest days” rangers guide you through the nature reserve and disclose some of nature’s secrets for you. The forestry office also organises exclusive group tours for young and old on request.

Within the unique juniper tree reserve Lampertstal, which you can reach in easy walking distance from the Eifel-Camp, orchids, pasqueflowers, gentians or autumn crocus bloom the whole year round.
